SCX Peugeot 307 Red

SCX Peugeot 307 WRC:

This model first appeared in 2004 with a production run that ended in 2010. During this period the model was only produced in two liveries. The original in a red colour with Total racing livery and the second model came in an attractive red and silver colours with Total racing livery. The Peugeot 307 WRC is made up of the following well thought out components;

  • The model has a plastic chassis with copper strips than run from the pickup guide to the electric motor terminals and this feature does away with the need for any electric wiring.
  • The sprung pickup guide has an automatic return system (ARS) and his centres the guide if the car de slots, which makes it easier for the car to be put back on the track quickly.
  • A removable and adjustable magnet feature is very handy for tuning the car to the circuit that it is being driven on. For example lowering the magnet for tight twisty tracks or raising the magnet for use on large tracks with long straights.
  • The car is powered by an RX81B electric motor that has shafts at each end of the motor that dive both front and rear wheels via 27 tooth grey coloured crown gears.
  • High intensity Xenon headlights and rear tail lights mean that the car can actually be driven successfully in the dark, as the front headlights are very bright.
  • Both drive axles are held in the chassis by brass bearings and the gear ratio is 3:1 with a 27 tooth gears and a 9 tooth motor pinions at each end of the motor.

The Peugeot 307 normally works extremely well straight out of the box and requires little tuning besides giving the tyres a quick sand. However there are certain simple tuning adjustments that can be made to increase cars on track performance, these include;

  • Replace standard braid with SCX soft racing braid for better electrical track connectivity.
  • Replace standard rear tyres with pro slot 19mm MJK tyres for superior grip.
  • Oil front and rear wheel bearings with light teflon type oil.
  • Place light grease between the motor pinion and the front and rear gears.

The SCX model of the Peugeot 307 is an accurate example of the real car and has plenty of fine detail in it. The second model release in red and silver is a particularly attractive looking model with accurate authentic looking tampo printing. The cars on track performance is quite reasonable, the car corners very well with the 4 wheel drive although it does lack a bit of straight line speed as a result of  its 4 wheel drive configuration.

As a collectible the Peugeot 307 should increase in value given time. The car is presented in decent size crystal display box that is good for displaying the model and keeping it free from dust. The model currently retails for around AU$55.00.
